Hi there. In the procedure to use the FLOW command (to straighten out the top and bottom of the curved wall), after you use DupBorder, Explode and deselect the short end segments, you invoke the Join command and then delete one of the curves. Why join those two curves first if you're going to delete one of them anyway?

Hi Chaim,
I join the curves for convenience, so it's easier to delete one of them. If I wouldn't join them (and first deselect them). I would have to first manually select all the individual line segments of one side and delete them. And then again manually select all the line segments from the other side I'd like to keep and join them together. I hope this makes sense. Please try it for yourself, after exploding, deselect everything, then delete the short ends, and then manually delete one side and manually select the other side to keep.
Thanks for your kind words, I'm glad it helped you upgrade your skills.
Best,
Arie

Thanks for your response. I understand that workflow. But what confuses me is what you are doing starting at time code 9:16. After you deselect the two small segments at the end, you join the two long curves and then delete one of them. I'm not sure why you would join those two long curves first if you are just going to delete one of them. It's a minor little detail that probably doesn't matter, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something subtle.
By the way, I am really enjoying your course. It is clear, thorough, focusing only on what an architect needs to know to build models efficiently. I appreciate the brevity and the quick pace.

Hi Chaim,
Great question. After the DupBorder command we get the closed polyline, but we just need one of the curves. So we need to explode the polyline, but that results into a lot of small segments. We deselect the short ends to just get the curves we need. All the small segments are still selected, so it's easier to use the join command and then just delete one of the curves, than to manually select the small segments, join them, and then delete all the other small segments we don't need. I hope this makes sense.
Best,
Arie
